Alternative Building Technology (ABT) Structures

What is ABT?

Alternative Building Technologies (ABT) focus on using construction methods and materials that are quicker, easier, and more cost-effective than traditional brick-and-mortar methods.

Examples of ABT:

Modular buildings:

Are prefabricated structures built from standardized sections (modules) in a factory, then transported and assembled on-site, offering speed and flexibility.

Prefab/Prefabricated Buildings:

A prefabricated building, also known as a prefab, is a building that is constructed using pre-built components that are transported to the site for assembly.

Shipping container homes:

Refers to a dwelling constructed from one or more repurposed shipping containers, offering a unique, often modular, and potentially affordable alternative to traditional home building.

Wendy House/Granny Flats/Cottages/Log Cabin:

A small, usually rustic house built with horizontal logs/timber often interlocked at the corners. BDN uses EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) and IPS (Insulated Panels) panels to build Wendy houses and log cabins.

Common applications:

  • Prefabricated Building/ Prefabricated Clinics/Hospitals/ Prefabricated classrooms.
  • Modular Buildings/Modular Homes/ Modular Clinics/ Laboratories (RDP/Emergency Homes)
  • Prefab Buildings/ Prefab Structures/ Prefab guard houses/ Prefab Accommodation
  • Mobile Offices/ Mobile Classrooms/Mobile Clinics/ Mobile Ablutions/Mobile Toilets/Mobile Libraries.
  • Warehouses, Workshops & Other Steel Structures.
  • Container Building/Container House/Container Office/Container Ablutions/Toilets.

Benefits:

  • Fast Construction – Significantly reduces build time compared to traditional methods.
  • Cost-Effective – Lower material waste and labor costs.
  • Customisable Designs – Tailored to your specifications, from layout to finishes. Can be dismantled and relocated many times.
  • Energy Efficient – Built with insulation and sustainable materials for lower energy consumption.
  • Durable & Weather-Resistant –of +50 to 100 years life span and Engineered to withstand various environmental conditions.
  • Reduced impact on the construction area with 0% wastage.
